Lead Programmer / Software Developer (Unity C#)

Job position to work Full-time in our offices located in Guadalajara.

What kind of games and mechanics are going to be programmed in Deathrosa?

From Top-Down Overworlds in RPGs like Earthbound, Undertale, IB, Yume Nikki with some Side Scrolling Platform and Stages like Shovel Knight and the classic bosses mechanics of Mega man. Up to a second combat system apart from this, which is a turn-based RPG-Shoot ’em up, inspired by the Earthbound, Undertale, Touhou Project and Mushihimesama.

 You are going to:

-With the support of the Game Boy DMG programmer, you are going to program almost the entire game of Deathrosa 1 in Unity! From the most basic things in the Overworld, such as dialogues, coalitions, physics etc, to more complex things like the turn based RPG combat system and a Shoot ’em up-Bullet Hell combat system with complex patterns of bullets like Touhou Project and Mushihimesama.

-Start from the demo created by itzaspace and work in conjunction to achieve the overall design of the game.

-The most complex part will be to design with itzaspace, the Bullet Hell system with complex patterns that challenge the player with a difficulty of try and error, where the player has to challenge himself and improve in every attempt to kill each boss, taking care of every detail in combat design, such as timing, cooldowns, patterns, attack speed, amount of damage etc.

-Create things never done before in the industry! Deathrosa will have a demanding and ambitious design that seeks to create new rules in the game industry, new genres, experiment new techniques, and polish the idea to reach the perfection. You will accept each new idea, no matter the impossible it may seem, you will take it as a personal challenge and show the world how things are done.

-Work with the Environment Artist to implement the art of the worlds and props for the design of the Overworld and the Stages.

-Work with the artist team to create VFX in Unity, some examples like the shader of the Earthbound bosses, as well as the VFX 8 bit for powers of characters like Earhtbound-Mario RPG.

-Test and improve the quality and performance of the game, solve bugs, test the game difficulty. You will be responsible for the perfect functionality of the game.

-Create the ports for Switch, and the next generation of PlayStation and Xbox consoles.

-Provide with ideas for the design of the game.


-Advanced knowledge in Unity and C#

-Advanced knowledge in the Bullet Hell combat system and complex patterns of Danmaku-Bullet Hell

-A demo reel that demonstrates your projects, knowledge and skills.

-While the game is 2D, in some special battles we will use some 2.5D and 3D effects that will requiere a 3D knowledge in Unity.

-Availability of time to work overtime when necessary, and dedication.

-Be the nerd of the nerds in your neighborhood.

Advantages (Not obligatory):

-Professional experience as a programmer / software developer.

-Experience creating VFX in Unity.

-Experience with other software such as Unreal Engine, Maya, Photoshop.

-Knowledge in other programming languages.

-Experience creating other types of applications.

-Unity Certification.

-Bachelor’s Degree

-A good level of Spanish.

Additional Information.

The work will start at the end of 2019 or the beginning of 2020.

Professional and competitive salaries, to be determined.

The full-time workday consists of a total of 44 hours a week, 8 hours Monday-Friday and 4 Hours on Saturdays at our offices in Guadalajara.

Of course we will continue to create more games until the end of time! That means you could work on our future and more ambitious AAA projects! And climb to a privileged position to be part of the first team that started it all.
